In this hour of Corona crisis, cyber criminals are trying to rob bank accounts on the pretext of Corona. In a latest warning that has been issued by the Central Government, it has been said that a large-scale cyber attack may occur soon enough. In such a situation, people need to be careful.
CERT-IN, the nodal agency of Indian Cyber Security, has expressed the possibility of a major bank accounts breach. The advisory speltout that cyber criminals can empty your bank account and steal your personal information on the pretext of giving information related to the Corona epidemic (COVID-19).
The modus operandi as warned will be to tell the person that he or she is associated with a government department, institution and business body.
Email IDs like ‘firstname.lastname@example.org’ have been instructed to be especially careful and people are warned not to open them. You will be asked to download a file or fill in financial information.
If you fill your personal information without taking precautions, you can become a victim of cyber fraud. Along with this, it was also told that these fraudsters are suspected to have personal email IDs of more than 20 lakh people. These emails can come with the subject line of ‘Free Covid-19 Testing for All Residents of Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Ahmedabad’. In this situation, extreme caution is required.
In the meantime even as Indo Chinese tensions escalate, Chinese hackers are reported to have carried out over 40 thousand cyber attacks in five days
Within the last four to five days, cyber attacks have been carried out by the Chinese hackers on large scale information technology infrastructure and banking sector. Several professional spaces have encountered issues like service interruption, Internet protocol and phishing.
Media reportage shows at least 40,300 cyber attacks on Indian cyberspace sources have happened.
The increase in cyber attacks has been seen following tensions between India and China.
